Yellow-necked mouse Apodemus flavicollis
Identification features

- Small sized mammal
- Pointed muzzle
- Large ears with hairless skin visble
- Fur is a rich yellow-ish brown colour on the back with a very pale grey
underside.
- Has an unbroken yellow band of fur which crosses the pale underside of
the between the forelegs and the head.
- Tail is dark above than below and is very long (at least sme length as
head and body combined)
Yellow-necked mice have not been recorded in Derbyshire yet, but we are
sure it will not be long before they are. They are found in mature woods
and hedges.
