Located just 30 miles northeast of Jacksonville Amelia Island is a tourist’s dream. The area features 13 miles of beautiful beaches, and a very hip downtown area. Families can learn about swashbuckling pirates at the Amelia Island Museum of History. You can even ride on a waterway cruise where you may see some alligators, or packs of wild horses during the ride.
Take In A Jaguars Game
If you are a NFL fan, you may want to catch Jacksonville Jaguars game at Everbank Field. The Jaguars have improved recently, led by a young and talented defense. The stadium even has a pool inside.
Go Weekend Shopping At Riverside Arts Market
Every Saturday in Downtown Jacksonville from 10 am to 4 pm, vendors get together on Riverside Avenue for the Riverside Arts Market. Vendors showcase their wares from delicious street food, beautifully crafted pottery, and fresh produce. After shopping and eating delicious food you can enjoy the street performers, who may play some amazing music, or entertain with a juggling act.
Visit Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens
Just 7 miles to the North of downtown Jacksonville is the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. This is a must visit for those vacationing to Jacksonville with kids. This large zoo features majestic elephants, beautiful big cats, towering giraffes, and monkeys and gorillas.
Also at the zoo is an area where you can get up close and personal with stingrays by feeding them.
When you get too hot from the humidity, simply go to the Play Park and Splash area. After cooling down many zoo visitors recommend the Zoo Train. The train takes a tour behind the scenes, and also allows it’s riders to look at the stunning Asian Bamboo Garden.
